Volunteer Benefits
Are you ready to make a difference, lend a helping hand, and create positive change?
It is important to us that our costs are transparent to students, so they understand where the fees are going! Volunteer are not paying to volunteer – they are paying for basic services provided during their time abroad and helping support the NGO they are placed with through a small donation for physical resources and the training time and support from their NGO supervisors.

Why Pay to Volunteer?
There are costs in setting up organized, suitable, and safe volunteer programs. Here is what your program fees go to:
- Expanish makes a donation to each volunteer's place of volunteer work.
- Setting up partnerships with organizations that will provide organized programs with meaningful tasks.
- Maintaining communication and a good relationship with our volunteer organizations and ensuring our Expanish volunteers are serious about contributing.
- Local, safe accommodation options in the city for students during their stay.
- Volunteer support services that guide and aid our Expanish volunteers from the moment they land in Buenos Aires until the last day of their program, including everything from your cell phone, to pre-arrival and on-site advising and orientation, to 24/7 emergency contacts.
- Every program includes the coordination of activities and support services, along with workshops, excursions and more to add to the volunteer’s cultural experience.

Volunteer Benefits
Organized Programs
Other then the obvious reason of helping others and the indescribable sense of reward it brings us, why do people choose to volunteer through an organized volunteer abroad program instead of independently?
Getting the Most out of Your Experience
Individuals always have a period of adjustment after they first arrive in a new country. Thrown on top of that are the complications of a new language and trying to figure out everything from the volunteering system to the bus system! Volunteer abroad programs provide volunteer support for every aspect of their time abroad; from language lessons, to program orientation & important cultural information for volunteers, to knowing the visa ins and outs and volunteer laws. Volunteers on organized programs can find their place quickly in the local culture and enjoy their time more thoroughly by focusing on what’s important: helping others!
Learning about and Integrating into New Cultures
Volunteering programs offer individuals opportunities to learn another language or discover new places and cultures that fit with their volunteering program schedule.
Volunteer work is often on an organized part time basis, allowing volunteers to combine their volunteer efforts with other interests, such as traveling or studying abroad, and enable volunteers to plan ahead of time for the most out of their abroad experience.
Assurance that Your Efforts are Making a Difference
Volunteer fees ensure that volunteer abroad programs can choose quality placement options for volunteers, where not only will they feel like they are truly helping, but can be assured that all their hard work was for a good purpose at the end of the trip.
Simplified Paperwork
While not all volunteers think about it, many countries have specific volunteer laws or require specific visas. Furthermore, there is inevitably company, organization, or even country bureaucracy that can make procuring a placement frustrating and time consuming. Volunteer programs drastically simplify the process, letting volunteers focus on making a difference.
Security & Medical Safety
A well-organized, planned and coordinated, safe and secure volunteer program is much more reliable than a self-planned volunteer trip, where the volunteer cannot be sure of the reliability or safety of their volunteer efforts. Volunteers will oftentimes not know what to do in the case of an emergency, especially a medical emergency, or what liability their host organization has in these cases. If the language of the host country if not the volunteer’s native language, this may lead to panic or a worsening of the situation. Having a host program with on-site staff will greatly lessen your anxieties while abroad and ensure you have support 24/7!
