Expanish recommends that all volunteers in our volunteer work programs in South America have international health insurance. Volunteers can purchase insurance through a local or international insurance company or purchase worldwide health and travel insurance through Expanish's partner, CareMed International.

Expanish puts forth as a suggestion for global coverage CareMed International. CareMed International offers comprehensive insurance packages for those living, traveling, or working abroad at affordable rates. Each package includes medical, legal, and technical services, 24/7, all year long.
Whether purchasing through CareMed International or a different service provider, Expanish reminds you to always carefully read the terms and conditions of the policy as well as the claims procedure and signals the importance of understanding what your insurance will cover, eligibility requirements, coverage dollars, destinations, claim processes and further details. We recommend ensuring to ask any questions that you may have before purchasing an insurance policy. If currently covered under your own or a family member's plan in your home country, we encourage you to confirm that the coverage will extend while you volunteer in a foreign country.
It is absolutely necessary to purchase a travel and health insurance package when traveling abroad for your health and safety.

Monthly Premiums for CareMed Gold Package
Coverage meets or exceeds all standard requirements for J-1 visa programs. Monthly premiums can be used for, but are not limited to: Au Pair, High School Exchange, Trainee, Internship, Language Programs, and Personal Travel; short or long-term policies with worldwide coverage. Early return reimbursement is possible.
Monthly Premiums for CareMed Bronze Package
Coverage meets or exceeds all standard requirements for J-1 visa programs. Monthly premiums can be used for, but are not limited to: Au Pair, High School Exchange, Trainee, Internship, Language Programs, and Personal Travel; short or long-term policies with worldwide coverage. Early return reimbursement is possible.
