Are you thinking of volunteering abroad in Argentina?

Confused about the volunteer jargon you are constantly hearing or reading?

If you have volunteered abroad or are thinking of doing so, you may have come across a selection of volunteer terms and volunteer jargon that confused you on what kind of travel-volunteer category you fall in to, what volunteer-travel experience is for you, and what are your travel options.

Here is a guide to volunteer jargon in order to straighten out the meaning of all those volunteer terms.

  • Environmental Conscious Travel

This refers to being respectful, and aware of the environment in which you are traveling.

  • Eco Friendly Travel

Similar to the one above, eco friendly is respecting the local environment where you are traveling, for example, using environmental friendly soap, avoiding plastic, etc.

  • Eco Tourism

Travelers focus on experiencing natural areas in order to create or expand environmental and cultural understanding, and conservation of the surrounding environment.

  • Sustainable Travel

This refers to forms of tourism development, management, and activities, which work to protect the natural, cultural, and social resources, all long term. Travelers often work to improve the area in which they travel, for example building eco-friendly housing, with results that always focus on a long term goal.

  • Geo Tourism

This works to sustain the geographical character of the place where travelers are, focusing on the culture, heritage, environment, and quality of life.

  • Green Travel

Travelers make eco-friendly choices, for example, staying at hotels that are environmentally responsible.

  • Volunteer Tourism

Travelers go abroad to travel as well as add a volunteer experience to their trip.

Clear enough?  With the terms above, you should be ready to plan and organize your travel and volunteer program in Argentina, and know exactly what you are getting in to.
