Add More to Your Volunteer Program in Buenos Aires with a Tango Workshop

During a volunteer program in Buenos Aires it is important to partake in other activities outside of your volunteer hours in order to supplement the cultural immersion experience, get you involved in activities typical to Argentina, and give you the opportunity to meet new people from both Buenos Aires and abroad.
What is tango?
Tango is a very seductive and sensual dance that was brought to Argentina by the many Europeans who immigrated here in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Once a dance for the ‘lower’ classes, tango has turned into a dance for the masses and one of the most sophisticated and talented focused dances in the world, including in Argentina where the tango is the national dance of the country and has been a beloved form of art for more than a century.
The tango is characterized by strong and very strict movements between a couple, moving in perfect harmony to both the music, the tango steps, and the message of pain, passion, or longing they are trying to communicate.
Tango in Buenos Aires is a very popular art form to enjoy and the city is full of both small and big tango shows and productions, plus various tango bars and places where the general public can learn and dance tango.
If you are volunteering in Buenos Aires and are looking for a way to spend time out of your volunteer hours indulging yourself in the culture of Argentina, tango is the perfect outlet. Tango classes give you the opportunity to learn this beautiful dance, learn more about Argentina and the culture, as well as practice your Spanish and meet both locals and foreigner friends.
