Volunteering abroad is a new form of traveling that continues to rise in popularity. Yes, volunteering has been around for decades, but not in the same way it is today, where thousands of travelers every year are packing their bags, saying goodbye to friends and family, and leaving to another country to spend some serious time abroad, donating their skills in various volunteer efforts.

What does this mean? This means that instead of just traveling for one’s own self enjoyment, people are starting to travel with the idea that it is possible to make a difference and if everyone just gave back a little, there would be real change in the world. Volunteering abroad can add more memories, experiences, and personal feelings than any other sort of travel out there; it combines the excitement of traveling to a new country with hands on work, cultural immersion, language lessons, meeting locals and other foreigners, and a fairly cost friendly experience; there are not many travel abroad experiences that can combine all that.
